I’m still not sure how they make it Karate Kid movies, but they are, and the latest one just got its first trailer.
I apologize immediately to anyone who wants to feel incredibly old at this point, but The Karate Kid turned 40 earlier this year, and even they’re pulling more and more from the franchise. There was a 2010 remake with Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan that was rubbish, unsurprisingly, but in 2018 the original cast was brought back for the Cobra Kai TV series (which somehow managed to amass 60 episodes in six seasons) ). Now, Karate Kid: Legends is on the way, which appears to be a sequel to both the 1984 original and the 2010 film, and considering the original starred Ralph Macchio, it also features Cobra Kai. too.
The first trailer, which you can check out above, appears… beautiful! In particular, honestly, there is nothing to complain about. A series that’s historically been pretty stupid (looking at you, Ghostbusters) has a major and serious role-playing problem, but if you can get past that, it’s probably going to be a fun enough time. The film brings back Chan from the 2010 remake as his character, Mr. Han, and features Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso from the original film, and Ben Wang as Li Fong. Ming-Na Wen (Mulan, Everything Everywhere All At One) is also set to appear, albeit in an undisclosed role.

If you’re desperate to check out Karate Kid: Legends, you’ll have to wait a while, as it won’t be available until May 30 next year, but if you’re desperate for more, Cobra Kai season three can be a blast. six (classic action, Netflix), will be released just a few months later, on February 13th.
