Following on from last year Until the morning remaster and a first look earlier this week, the full trailer for David F. Sandberg’s (Shazam!) film adaptation was just released.
Initial reaction to the announcement Until the morning movie, unsurprisingly, had a ton of gamers scratching their heads. What was the point of bringing a game that was essentially a playable, create-your-own-story horror movie to the big screen? How do you make it stand alone and not feel like an outright letdown of the experience? Well, the aforementioned preview, which included behind-the-scenes footage and interviews, revealed a pitch (completely separate from the game) with time loops at its core. It has us intrigued, and the trailer promises a refreshing horror take on the material…if the execution fails.

Quick warning: In typical Sony Pictures fashion, I think the trailer is pretty obvious, so skip it if you’re already interested in the film and would rather just watch it. Released on April 25, 2025. Please check below:
Well, it’s packed. Peter Stormare is back as Hill (although we’re not sure how that works given the nature of his character in the game), and the young cast includes Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Odessa A’zion, and Belmont. Camel. You are a heavy slasher killer Dead in daylight vibes, monstrous Wendigos, zombifying worms, and even some kind of weird kaiju. How does it all work? Each time the young perish, they are “reborn” a few hours before their death. It’s a familiar premise, but the point is that the dangers lurking in the shadows change with each reset… and there seems to be a limit to how many times they can escape.
To be honest, I expected it to look worse and more soulless. Sandberg’s efforts in the horror space prior to DC were strong enough to catch the attention of many producers in Hollywood, and I’m excited to see her doing something scary again, regardless of what happens here.
The late summer release window is strange, especially for a horror movie with huge blockbusters like Marvel Studios. thunderbolts* it’s close, but maybe it’s overperforming due to the lack of direct competition.
