2025 will be full of big new entries in numerous film franchises after a somewhat quiet 2024 and Jurassic World: Rebirth 2022’s Dominion tops this year’s “most anticipated blockbusters” list, even if it’s a T-Rex-sized disappointment. One of his secret weapons could be the return of the writer of Jurassic Park and The Lost World David Koppand more about his approach to the seventh installment.
While director Gareth Edwards (of Godzilla and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story fame) discusses the on-location shoot a bit and introduces the new cast of characters, Koepp is more than excited about the opportunity (and the challenges). ) came in the 1990s when he returned to the world he helped collect. If it’s honest, it really does sound like Rebirth is back to basics, but it ignores the advances made by the previous three Jurassic World movies.

“Writing those first two movies was one of my favorite experiences of my career so far. The combination of great adventure and real science is really cool to me. And deciding on a new tone was a lot of fun, because every three movies in the franchise seems like a good time to change the tone and the characters. appears” recently told TheWrap. Like them or loathe them, the three Jurassic World movies are in theaters, TV and video gameseach grossing more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office, so another entry is coming sooner rather than later.
After Colin Trevorrow completed this three-film story arc and helped get the animated show Camp Chalk Beyond Earth , the long-running franchise began quietly searching for new DNA under the watchful eye of original director (now producer) Steven Spielberg, who turned to Koepp for the start of a new era that was both fresh and a continuation of established ideas. By Trevorrow and his collaborators.
Koepp says he quickly created “nine commandments” (like “Chuck Jones made for Road Runner shorts”) to keep things consistent and clear. Chief among them was that “the events of the previous six films cannot be denied or contradicted,” which should put some weird fan theories to rest.
In fact, we already know that the story begins several years before the events of Dominion, when dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, now another part of modern nature, gradually return to the tropical zones of the world after failing to thrive in different climates. The action involves a group of scientists and mercenaries trying to collect samples from a number of animals on a remote island; they could help develop miraculous medicines and cures for mankind. But you know, capitalism will probably mess things up. That and extremely hungry dinosaurs.
Koepp also insists that the team is following “the spirit of the first film, the tone we wanted to be closest to”… Universal may have been horrified to hear this, but the pressure was palpable. Hopefully this also means that the film, which will remain a 100% family-oriented adventure, will have an extra “bite” that the shockingly bloodless sixth installment lacked.
Jurassic World: Rebirth opens on July 2, 2025. Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali lead the cast. The first trailer is expected to drop during next month’s Super Bowl, or if we’re lucky, sooner.
