You’re probably pretty familiar with Batman’s origin story by now, so thankfully James Gunn has said he has no plans to feature it in the new film. DCU.
The problem with constant reboots and remakes of beloved characters is that we’ve seen it all before. We all know Superman had a farm accident as a baby, we all know Spider-Man was bitten by a radioactive spider and gained superpowers, and we’ve all seen Batman’s parents killed in front of him, setting him up. on the road to vigilance. But whenever the caped crusader comes to the big screen DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn’s new DCU, he won’t do that in the origin story. Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes, Gunn explained that Batman “already exists in this universe, just like when we were born.” Superman movie and we see that Superman already exists, he is already recognized by the people in Metropolis. Batman has now technically arrived in the new DCU, as he made a cameo in the latest episode of Gunn’s Creature Commandos, which the director explained was “just a way to introduce Batman as part of this universe.” Don’t get too hung up on the cameo, though, as Gunn also mentioned that he’s not really ready to lock down anything about the character. “When they first showed me the episode, there was a lot more Batman. And I was like, ‘I’m not ready to give this… any more silhouette!’

Although there is a new Batman movie on the way, there’s no word on when we’ll see it. It’s called The Brave and the Bold and will be directed by The Flash director Andy Muschietti (an option, of course), and while it’s non-canon for the DCU, it’s here.
