Discover, expand, defend
General game cycle Dark Age revolves around these three movements and it’s a cycle that repeats until you finally win (or lose).. Explore the map for resources and buildable land, expand your base to reach these resources, and gather your warriors as the Nightmares descend upon you and fight to the end. Almost every game Dark Age revolves around these three principles and so will the rest of the tips in this guide.
Find and protect resources
The first thing players should do at the beginning of the game is to make explore their surroundings. Leave a soldier or two to protect your hold, then have everyone else go out and find stuff. Pay attention to the following and plan your urban layout accordingly:
Stone deposits
Fertile land
Choking points
Build factories
Good thing about it Dark Age your buildings don’t need to be connected to the mains grid connected to your main base. This means that in moments of absolute necessity, you can build a base dedicated to the collection of special resources. If there are no Stone deposits near your base, you can build a Quarry over a distant quarry without worrying about building restrictions. Don’t forget to put some guards there, and if a Deathly Night troop is expected to leave, dismantle everything and send any soldiers home. Rebuild it as soon as dawn breaks.
On a related note, Ghosts can spawn in areas you’ve previously explored as long as they’re in the fog of war. Try to keep your area as light as possible.
Layer your walls
Walls are great for keeping street ghosts out of your area, but during the Deadly Nights, a single layer of protection will not be enough. Fortunately, you can build several layers of walls next to each other. Be careful not to overshoot, as you still need to kill Ghosts for Death Nights, and you won’t be able to if your ranged attackers can’t reach the enemy.
Create Scratch Posts
A scratching post is basically a piece of detached walls Distract enemies in the night of death. They can soften the blow on your main defensive wall by keeping some Ghosts away, while also giving your ranged units more time to fire. You can do this by simply building a wall line extending from your main line. Scratching posts can be used as traps After unlocking the Ignite ability from the Wood Workshop.

Level up your hero
Your hero is a very powerful unit in terms of raw stats, but what really defines them is their skills. Edwin, for example, gains the Flame Shield ability, which protects him while dealing damage to enemies. All heroes have powerful skills like this, so you should send them into battle as often as possible. Every hero and faction offers different play stylesso experiment and find the one you use the most.
Spend your resources
Saving up for upgrading is important, but if you let resources sit in memory, you’ll miss out on a lot of potential power. Apart from unlocking building structures, training units and upgrades, you can spend excess resources through Trade Markets. Here you can sell unwanted resources and buy more of what you need.
Adjust Unit Target Priorities
To reduce the stress on micromanaging units during combat, you can change their target priority: By pressing the F key or left-clicking the Repair All button in the section actions window. Assign single-target units like Archers to target strong enemies first, and assign melee units to target the closest ones.
Take Your Time
This game it doesn’t require you to be fast. You can pause the game at any time by pressing the spacebar or the appropriate button at the top right of the screen. The next Deadly Night is always around the corner, so if you need to plan your next move, hit Pause and think things through first.
